no need to cut it in the first place just gap the spark plugs to manafactures specs and you will be fine
I wanted to see if this really makes a horse power improvement I did this on the plug in my leaf blower big gain in the finger throttle use it not just to blow leafs but snow also great mod thanks.

You must be bored worth a try but don't buff the insulators you embed iron or brass filings and cause shorting that's why they used to blast clean them with non ferrous media Just Sayin

Tapping a spark plug can actually damage the center electrode. Also to avoid nicking the electrode post again you should mount the plug somewhere before you begin cutting.
