Every bicycle owner should know how to inflate a bike tire (or have a husband who knows how to ;-)). In this video you will learn how to inflate a bicycle tire with a Presta valve whether the tube is flat or you’re getting ready to go out on a ride. For the times that I have to pump up the tires of my bike, here’s how I do it.

Sorry the volume is so low — you’ll need to turn up your speakers. Thanks for watching!

  1. So how do you fill a completely empty presta tube…when the valve top nut drops down inside the valve because there is no air seal, or back pressure holding it up??

  2. @Sean, no worries! The pump can handle that. Just unscrew the tube's presta valve (and yes, the top nut will drop back down into the valve), place the pump's valve onto the presta valve deep enough so you know that its made a good connection (you can actually feel the inside of the pump head depress) and lock the pump's valve lever before pumping air. It will fill up. If the valve is being difficult, I blow air into it with my mouth after unscrewing the presta valve 😀

  3. nice video. I just got my first bicycle that uses presto valve.

  4. again, no doesn't work. only works on tyres that already have air in them. also doesn't show how to connect the pump to the valve. only half a video here

  14. Is this a joke?? you need a special pump for presto valves and 99.9% of pumps out there are for schrader valves, including gas stations

  15. Oh my, oh my, would I love to inflate her ass

  16. Some pretty revolting comments below. Actually lots. Now I see how the Donald got elected.

  18. Thank you. Brief. Clear and very helpful.

  19. The fact that I'm on YouTube trying to figure this shit out means this is a worthless valve!

  20. can i find the second cap or nut anywhere because it broke?
    eagerly waiting for reply.

  21. That dust cap that you said had no function does actually serve a purpose: it keeps little bits of dust and other crud from going down inside the stem of the valve and interfering with the secure sealing of the valve’s inner parts. A tiny piece of sand or something can lodge there and cause a slow leakage of air pressure––and if that little crud piece embeds itself in the rubber parts in there and then doesn’t blow out when air is released during a tire pump-up, then it’ll keep on causing trouble. It is always good to use dust caps on valve stems.

  22. This does not work…you need a SPECIAL pump.
