   Mate, I am facing this exact same problem on my Polo GTI right now. Can you please advise what the root cause of this problem was and if it was easy to repair?

   bad transmission bearing and mechatronic unit

   I am taking my car in on Monday for the Same problem. The consensus seems that it is the Mechatronics unit within the transmission which is not easy to repair. Lucky my car has an extended warranty.

   My car just started doing this yesterday. Any update on what you did or how much it cost? My car is out of warranty and I'm fearing this is going to be insanely expensive.
