Crimson Earth 2 is a disappointment of a game on so many levels. What could have been a 3rd person version of the classic Crimsonland is instead relegated to Steam shovel-ware crap.

I totally agree with you. Why put the effort in to make the framework or base of a game (which is arguably the hardest and most significant part) but not put in the extra work in to make it unique/special. Like you said, with a bit of extra effort and creativity they could have turned this into a much better game and even charged significantly more money. Maybe it boils down to the quality vs quantity argument.
