Where you able to get this problem fixed? My 2002 TT does the same thing with driver and passenger side.
I kept moving the the window all the way down and all the way up about 10 times without stopping and it reset the window 🙂
Strange but it does work. When at the top, stop then hit the button again at the top for about 3 seconds.
If not then could be the runners 🙂
My 2002 TT driver's side window is in the upper position and doesn't move at all?
Regulator, motor, any advise?

When you press the button, can you hear anything from the window? any clicks etc? if you cannot hear anything, I would swap the door switches over to see if the door switch is faulty. If you can hear a click then more than likely its motor. if you hear the motor trying to move, it could be the regulater. Best take the door car off and see if anything is in the way on the reg. thats what I would do dude, good luck 🙂
this happens to mine too, exact same process
I have the same problem. What wound up fixing it? I alredy took the door apart and greased all the brackets, no help. Most likely the window motor's resistance is too high causing it to think something is in the window's path, please help
