Maybe you have the 'Auto' mode on with the temp all the way down to 60F and it wants the AC every time… otherwise, I don't know what the issue is. Maybe, like with the Sport button, there is a way to program it to come on every time the car starts, and that's been set somehow.
Right on thanks man!
If your car is younger than model year 2000, you most likely have the Circulating Air Memory selected in the CKM (Car Key Memory). You can have those settings changed in the dealership.
All BMW's are rear wheel drive…
hey is the m5 a good car to own. i dont want to keep fixing something
thanks for the reply
As the annotation, corrected, yes.
thanks for the vid. A few suggestions … for a car enthusiast to say 'I'm still figuring out the stick shift' … you might want to keep that one to yourself, lol. 😛 Also, BMWs are all either rear wheel drive or, in some cases, all-wheel drive. Also if you're gonna do a review of a performance car you HAVE TO GO DRIVE IT … that's the entire point 😛
Thanks for the comment, but let me clear some things up. I was 16 years old at the time. This is my first car. I had no license.
Over two years later now, I've mastered the three godly pedals, and driven this car over 25,000 miles. And I believe that BMW is making, or planing to make, some FWD cars. Maybe only for the Euro 1 series, but still. I do understand that all are RWD/x-Drive models right now though.
I didn't have a license at the time, so I couldn't go drive it.
If you like the car, there are tons of videos on my @E39Source YouTube channel. In addition to many other E39, E30 and E36 models.
by the way its not a 5.0L, its a 4.9L brahh
Close enough. I can round 4.96 to 5, just like BMW does in all of their documentation.
What do you think about this as a first car? Not to be rude I am already getting it in 3 days so what you say isn't going to affect my decision. I'd just like to hear your opinion
This is a great first time. And a terrible first car. On one hand, it's a well-built, beautiful, BMW sports-sedan. On the other, it's a 6spd, lower-production german performance car. It's expensive to keep up. I'll recommend it all day, but keeping this car up is not like maintaining a Civic. Check out @E39Source, it's a channel I made all about these cars. You can make videos on it about your car if you like… anybody is welcome!
What do you mean when you say "This is a great first time car"… It is obviously going to be nicer that your average first car, but do you think I will be able to handle it? like is it the kind of car where you are always tempted to speed just because of its speed, or is the kind of car where you can actually take it easy in?
Well, that totally comes down to your personality. If you're responsible, then you'll be fine. If not, you're going to kill yourself or someone else. This is a fast car. Contrary to popular beliefe, a car can be driven fast responsibly, at the right time and at the right place. Just be responsible with it, and you'll be just fine.
I have the same car, in silver though. And I hate the black trim too, bothers me every timei look at it. cool vid
have you since upgraded the 6-cd player to a digital input setup? i'm considering taking mine out for one of the many aftermarket products (by bavaudio and others).
No, I have not as of now. I'd love to find one that's affordable, actually works, and is fairly intuitive to install. Let me know if you find any such thing!
He's very right, on the responsibility, I had an E39 528i as my first and I got myself into trouble with it (check out my page) but my advise is don't learn to drift in the e39 (its not the easiest car to learn to catch, and on the straits, make sure it's safe and clear before you get on it. If you want to get it sideways, take it to and abandoned lot. and off the street, its not forgiving. Just some tips! 🙂 enjoy your E39!
i was put off by the expensive products by bimmernav and bavaudio, but i just found a product made by gromaudio. it's a lot cheaper and has aux / bluetooth options for iphone or android/smartphones. they sell their units on ebay or direct from their site for ~$130 plus $50 if you want to add bluetooth. that's way cheaper than what bimmernav was quoting me ($700+ to convert my 540i with DSP. ouch! ) if i get the grom i'll let you know how it performs.
Yeah, sounds great! Please be sure to let me know if you go with that, and how it works!
hows insurance/dailycosts/repairs?
High, high, and high. However, you get what you pay for. The Ultimate Driving Machine.
The color is Blue Water metallic.
In 2001+, yes. In 2000, this was known as Silverstone Metallic. Blue water metallic is a little more blue, and less silver.
Don't even want to know what the insurance is for one of these if you're in your low 20's. Must be breaking bank at some point. But, you must live a little before you start buying those silly Toyota's right? Love the car. Always been a fan of the M5s.
Ryan, thanks for the information. I bought my M5 last week and love it.
Congratulations! If you ever feel like making a video about it, you're more than welcome to on our E39Source channel. 🙂
Hi , i dont know which i should buy e39 m5 or e60 530i , prices are almost the same , but m5 has big fuel usage 21l/100km and 530i 11l/100km but e60 is v6 , could i be able to drive m5 with 13-16l/100km ?
You can get that fuel economy out of the E39 M5 if you're careful and try to. I would highly recommend the E39 M5 as a car, but the I6 E60 530i would be much more practical, and a bit more affordable to maintain.
fackin love this model m5
pero sabes conducirlo o no?
this guy should do what saabkyle04 does
@chrisdrivehamptons agreed! 😀
The black trim was on all M5 models 1998-2003
So, this GPS is not a touchscreen?
From 13 years ago? No.
I LOVE this BMW, E46 and E39 are the best BMW's <3
bmw ftw
…one of the few cars with black trim like that , that I like
nice car im saving to get me one found a nice deal too so this video showed me a lot of my hopefully future car
No rust, my e39 touring from 2001, taken out 2002 has started to rust pretty bad although o've had it for 8 years and really taken care of it. Perhaps its the swedish winter.
Just wanted to point that out too 🙂
