I wouldn’t be surprised if you just found the Astra in an empty spot with the keys on the bonnet, the car is THAT dreary.

One of those cars that are almost cool today because they were so damn boring back in the day.
26 years — and it still seems to be usable. I bet you won't see many functional "normal" current cars around in 2048. Oh wait… in 2048 we're not allowed to drive private vehicles anymore anyway.

Wow, even the 1.4 has long gears? 110km at 3000rpm is good. My uncle has a regular 1.4 60hp, which doesn't have an odometer, but i thought it also seems to have longer than usual gears. The Astra G all seem to have shorter gears than their older counterparts.

Astra with revcounter: what a desired equipment! My uncle bought a brand new 1.4 Si in 1994, I had some test rounds… The engine sounded fine, almost melodic — like in this video. The throttle response was not perfect, the gearbox was just O.K. — but Opels don't get much worse as you use them (they stay as shit as they were new) 🙂 (except for the gear change mechanism, it can make the car immobilized, but not difficult to fix).

Respectably quiet, many older cars seem to have better noise insulation
All old cars made unacceptable noise in the cabin. Even the ones that were more expensive and we thought had a reputation for being quiet like the Germans or the Japanese
But only automatic transmission cars were more civilized to drive, regardless of their make. Exactly what is proportionally true, even with today's cars.
