B-segment (or small cars) is a car classification defined by the European Commission as larger than cars in the A-segment and smaller than those in the C-segment.

Although there are variations in vehicle classifications, these automobiles are sometimes described as subcompact in the United States and are roughly between 144–165 inches (3,658–4,191 mm) in overall length. This class falls within the B-segment in Europe and are often described as supermini cars.

There are differences in the exact segmentation and classification of particular automobiles that are marketed in different national markets. The variety of B segment cars has been increasing world-wide reflecting the shift in the marketplace due to the economic crisis occurring between 2007-2010. Manufactures have been developing more variants in this category and new emerging markets have been profitable opportunities.

Examples of B-segment cars include the Citroën C3, Dacia Sandero, Ford Fiesta, Hyundai i20, Kia Rio, Mazda2, Mini Hatch, Mitsubishi Space Star, Nissan Micra, Opel Corsa, Peugeot 208, Renault Clio, SEAT Ibiza, Škoda Fabia, Toyota Yaris, and Volkswagen Polo. This segment also includes the all-electric Opel Ampera-e and Renault Zoe.
