Right now I see her actions as continuing to be manipulative and opportunistic, just not in the same blatant way. I think she’s gone back to hanging back and wait for the first sign of trouble from Ki-tae’s relationship to try to weasel her way in. The easiest way to do that is to stay close and oh! Ki-tae’s clinic is doing poorly and it’s already been established that her dad has wanted Ki-tae to work for him.
I just hope the other writers get a clue. It is because they’re friends who’ve become members of a family of choice. And there are consequences for previous actions, as much as there are acts of contrition for them. Jang-mi calms down enough to notice a pair of sexy red heels in his entryway, and Ki-tae just says he’s got a visitor and can’t talk now. She’s even more suspicious when she notices he’s dressed up, and shoves her way past him, only to find she’s barged into the middle of a magazine interview. Jang-mi shows up anyway and pounds on his door, yelling for him to open up, and finally just unlocks the door herself.
Mom leaving Dad «for his own good.» Gotta say I’m surprised the final episode is going to focus on Jang Mi reconciling with her parents instead of reconciling with Ki Tae’s mother, which was addressed today. Their drinking makgulli together was so cute seeing Mom genuinely smile and kid around with the price of her kimchi. Hopefully, the cancer trope is resolved quickly. Mom will get treatment, be cured, done.
Marriage, Not Dating (
Jang-mi was right that they talked more, and were more honest, when their relationship was fake. I wanted to yell at her when Yeo-reum told her to just go talk to Ki-tae already, but she didn’t. Showing someone your true self opens you up to rejection. I’m honestly not sure how I feel about the show’s suddenly using Yeo-reum and Se-ah as forces of good rather than conflict.
Also, can someone please just knock gi tae’s dad out and leave him in an abondoned warehouse? She rushes off to Ki-tae’s place, as he’s dressing in a spiffy suit and remembering Yeo-reum’s words that he hasn’t been a man Jang-mi can rely on. She calls to tell him she’s on her way, but he panics and says she can’t come now. He’s cagey about why, just saying he’s got something important.

After his interaction with dad, Gi Tae returns back to his apartment looking rather down. When he finally looks up, he notices a table full of food and Jang Mi’s also there. She wants him to try the food and give her his evaluation on the Korean pancakes and makguli.
Usually dramaland gives us manly tears (ala jo in sung in that winter) but ywj’s cried like a little boy and i really feel his pain as a son. I hope our two leads could work in dramas that make them shine like this. So more than almost everything else in this drama, I have looked forward to Ki-tae’s reconcilation with his mom.
It’s great that he actively looks out for Jang Mi and Gi Tae’s best interest. Hyun Hee and Hoon Dong aren’t far behind either. I think this was the first episode where I actually liked Hyun Hee.
Mom asks if Jang Mi is still seeing Yeo Reum but Gi Tae defends Jang Mi saying that if mom thinks about it, Jang Mi met Yeo Reum because of him. If he didn’t treat her so poorly, she wouldn’t have needed someone else to lean on. Aunt hilariously sits on the side and tries to help Gi Tae gain sympathy points by saying that Gi Tae must be so sad, losing his love and regretting is actions.
