This is a project I did for my 1990 VW Jetta Diesel/WVO a few years ago. I had rerouted the air filter intake to the cowl at the back of the hood. Clamping the shopvac hose to the stock air filter fitting was messy. I decided to design a 3D printed elbow in Sketchup to solve the problem. The parts turned out on the first print thankfully. The elbow took many hours to print and did not get any cracking in the ABS. I covered the entire printer in plastic to keep even temperature around the print.

Thanks for this post. BRAVO!!! A real world solution solved by using a 3d printer TWICE! So far as keeping it in place might I suggest DUCK TAPE? Some people feel it's embarrassing when you take a car into be serviced with duck tape in the engine compartment. Little secret: Mechanics use duck tape on their OWN CARS as well!!! So, let a mechanic get huffy with you just say "IT WORKS, don't it???" ,
Again, thanks for an eloquent solution!
Looks good, noticed a hole in the top of the neck it fit over, maybe a screw ?
Thanx
Haha yes good stuff !! Nice work Nate!
How does it hold up to the heat? I've got a leak in my stock intake, I figured this would make good use of my printer.
