LMT Cars: Volkswagen Polo 2018 (Full Presentation)
2018 Volkswagen Polo styling
The new Polo keeps the old model’s upmarket looks but looks way more up to date. Starting from the front, there are new headlights with LED daytime running lights and a chrome strip running through the middle of the grille in line with VW’s new corportate look.
The strong crease running along the side helps make the car look sleeker than the slightly bulbous outgoing model. The new Polo is wider and longer than before, looking squatter as a result.
Round the back, the brake lights have a ‘P’ light signature, a pronounced roof spoiler and, on high-spec models, fake exhaust tips in the bumpers.

The new 2018 Volkswagen Polo has officially been revealed – it’s the latest generation of VW’s popular small car that has sold over 14 million units globally. The car is set to go on sale in 2017, costing from £14,000.
2018 Volkswagen Polo engines and driving
You’ll be able to get the Polo with five petrols and two diesels. Power ranges between 65-200hp and VW’s quick-shifting seven-speed DSG gearbox is available as an option with most engines. At the top of the range sits the Polo GTI, equipped with a 2.0-litre petrol. Adaptive dampers are an option that allows you to soften or stiffen the Polo’s suspension.
There’s a multitude of available safety systems such as standard automatic emergency braking. Adaptive Cruise Control that can match the speed of the car in front – even bringing the car to a complete stop if needed – and a blind-spot warning system are optional.

VW’s second-generation Active Info display is optional in the new Polo, it’s the first VW to get the latest system and also the first car in the class available with a digital instrument binnacle. It promises more intuitive operation and better graphics. Next to the virtual cockpit, is the infotainment screen that ranges from 6.5-8.0 inches in size and is encased in glass – expect the larger system to be one of the best in the class. VW’s App Connect is also available bringing MirrorLink, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Wireless charging of your smartphone is optional via the dedicated cubby under the climate controls.
The wheels of the new Polo have been pushed as close to the ends of the car as possible to lengthen the wheelbase and maximise space. You can expect back-seat room to be extremely impressive with space enough for two tall adults to feel comfortable. In terms of luggage room, the boot has grown from 280 litres to 351 litres without losing its practical square shape and decent amount of standard tethering points.
