Thousands strike at Volkswagen plant in Brazil

Workers at the Volkswagen automobile plant in Brazil’s Sao Paulo state are striking indefinitely to protest the retrenchment of 800 employees. The firm blamed the lay-offs on two years of poor growth, with a further 1,300 jobs on the line.
