A walk to school becomes a game of ‘jump the puddle’, a morning round of selling vegetables turns into a battle between man and road. The abysmal condition of roads in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand is proving to be a nightmare for the people of the city.
Community Correspondent Luxmi Nautiyal tells us that the road in this video is just one of the many battered, potholed roads that connect the various parts of Dehradun.
The problem has arisen chiefly due to a disconnect between the Public Works Department which is meant to fix the road and the agency that is meant to lay down sewage lines in 2012. While these two agencies indulge in a slinging match and the administration promises repair works on the major roads, the citizens of Dehradun wait. Impatiently wait.
