Mercedes-AMG has modernized the top-of-the-line sportiness of the model range with many visual features and attractive equipment packages. Standard innovations on the CLS 53 4MATIC + include a redesigned front fascia with an AMG sports bumper in the shape of the A-wing with black vents and visible air curtains, as well as the distinctive AMG grille with vertical bars. The perimeter of the windshield frames is made of brushed aluminum or black high-gloss in combination with the night package. The exterior mirrors are painted in the color of the car. Here, too, models with the AMG Night Package or the AMG External II Carbon Package are an exception: the mirrors there are finished in high-gloss black or have a carbon fiber case. Mercedes-AMG drivers also steer the CLS with the latest generation of the steering wheel, here in a nappa leather finish and the familiar AMG steering wheel buttons with display.
In terms of optional extras, two new packages allow the coupe to be even sportier: the AMG Night Package II, available in conjunction with the AMG Night Package, includes a radiator grille, a Mercedes star in the back and a dark chrome print.
The AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package enhances dynamics in many ways. Red painted brake calipers with black AMG lettering add visual accentuation to the exterior. Inside, the AMG Performance steering wheel in Nappa leather / DINAMICA microfibre or alternatively in Nappa leather completes the package with sporty elegance. Track-perfect performance can be experienced with the sporty focus in the additional «RACE» driving mode with Drift mode.
The CLS 53 4MATIC + combines 320 kW (435 hp) with sporty style and high efficiency. The compact starter generator briefly provides an additional 16 kW of power and 250 Nm of torque and powers the internal grid with 48 volt power. It unifies the starter and alternator in a single electric motor and integrates the engine and transmission. This, combined with intelligent turbocharging with an additional electric compressor (eZV) and exhaust gas turbocharger, pursues the same goal: to deliver the performance and driving dynamics of AMG, while reducing fuel consumption and emissions at the same time. The AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G extremely fast-shifting transmission, the AMG Performance 4MATIC + fully variable all-wheel drive and the AMG RIDE CONTROL + air suspension contribute to the dynamic driving experience.
