In this car spotting video we have our first non-JDM car: a Triumph Spitfire, but in this video it will become clear why this car is significant for the Japanese car market.
This Spitfire was the final incarnation of the range: the Triumph Spitfire 1500. The 1500 stands for the final 1493cc engine which delivered 71 horsepower. With a kerbweight of 790 kilograms it’s quite okay for its time. This Spitfire is of the last ones produced: it got first registered in September 1979, if the tweed interior didn’t give it away already.
I found this Spitfire parked on the third floor of a parking garage in my hometown. It looks immaculate and, judging from the paintjob and perfect interior, I almost dare to say it has never been restored. I really was stunned by its sheer beauty.

Original MX5 has that certain level of appel because of those Flip headlights 😀 awesome video ! 🙂
My friend had an NA mx-5 for a short time, I had the chance to drive it. It was a totally new experience, and I was grinning the whole time. I really get it, and wanted one immediately. Maybe someday, but the old corolla is the star of the show and will remain my special friend for a long time. I bet these older roadsters are a pleasure to drive.
those small british cars sold here really well because they were so unusual compared to the big american cars that flooded the peruvian market until the 70's. i always blame british cars for being unreliable, but i always appreciate the impact it had in the world. they look really good too!
cool, im not that much into these uk roadsters…or roadsters in general tho haha
i like that section of single pic at the end of the video… the 323F was a pretty popular car here, if i remember right the BG 323 line up was the first mazdas to be officially sold in czech republic in the early 90s 😀 when i was a kid i remember one woman from our appartment building had a 323F, it looked so futuristic between all these skoda 120's and such cars, i also remember i was wondering whats the deal with the headlights hahah
mk3 escort was a very popular car to import during the 90s "importing everything from everywhere" craze, you could also buy this escort officially even during the comunism era, but it was super expensive and hard to get….but ppls start to get rid of them relatively soon as they got a pretty bad reputation for breakdowns and such…its really rare to see one now….
