My power steering reservoir is also oily, all older BMW’s I’ve seen are like that, I don’t think it is a big deal, I feel it is gasket that needs to be replaced
you need to change your oil reservoir tank, i had same problem that there was oil leaking, and i changed mine, all good now! and btw i have a channel too and i look up to you and what youre doing, and I just wanna say keep up the good work buddy! #e90gang

Why dont you have the fender cover,my car has one, i have a 335i your gonna have electrical problems especially when it rains
On my car the power steering fluid cap has a vent hole in it. Some residue gets on the cap
Get a fender liner
I think you have coolant leak
Happend too me and it was the upper and lower radiator hose leaking.
Your power steering reservoir is leaking a bit. on amazon or fcpeuro.com they go for $20. pretty cheap and easy DIY. or $50 with the lines i would replace those to. mine also has the same problem 🙁
Same thing happened to me man it’s your thermostat or oil head gasket, check them, One should be faulty.
My bmw also doesn’t have the fender liners because I got into an accident so I had to remove them. My bimmer never had an issue with steam due to water splashing from the tires. Maybe you hit a puddle a little too fast and the water splashed onto your exhaust.
There’s a vent hole on your power steering reservoir cap to relieve pressure that’s where the residue comes from .
The tank you pointed out is the power steering fluid, mines doing the same thing n I think my power steering is messing up whenever my car is parked it makes a clicking noise I think my power steering pump is messing up
Best you get that fender cover, you do not want to be sitting with an electrical issue.

Might wanna get that fender cover, my friend. The engine will be just fine, but with electronics? They need the protection from the water. The worst thing you can have at that moment is an electrical issue that could end up costing you.

I had the same problem and this was my fix. No more problem
You probably know by now that it's your power steering fluid reservoir. I would suggest cleaning it well and THEN open it and check your power steering level and cleanliness. Always better to add some fluid or change the fluid than waiting for the pump to fail.

bmws are great if you enjoy a good fucking because they will cost you insane amounts for repair
My bmw also motivates me..so don't listen to the "Haters"…but,as you know know now,replace that undercover asap…for power steering..just keep a eye on it..mine does the same thing. Peace brother
You can change the whole power steering reservoid to avoid the leak plus you will get a clean filter for it.
