8-Speed Automatic Transmission with a new shifter.
It glides with a smooth and quick efficiency, consistently using energy to its best advantage. its construction provides additional gears with no gain in weight, enhanced acceleration with reduced fuel consumption and increased torque with added strength to pull. You can customize your shift schedule by engaging the steering-wheel paddles. Switch to the available Sport mode and your shift schedule and engine power are both adjusted to hand over a sportier driving experience. It all adds up to a ride that delivers powerful strength without compromise.

can the 16 shifter be installed in to the 14-15 is the big question?
RIP Anton Yelchin
thanks. i come here after reading about anton yelchin death
i honestly like better the MonoStable shifters… i just don't understand why FCA had to recall them yet BMW has been using them for years and nobody complained
Its a real shame that the average jeep buyer is too retarded to use a new style shifter like every other company that uses this gearbox.
It shows just how much the rest of the car is probably held back due to the retardation of a few.
Paddle shifters on a Jeep. lol
The only way to access 'sport mode' is by hitting that button by the navi? Now I really miss the old shifter because all you had to do was just pull it back and BAM! sport mode
I don't understand why they just didn't use a rotary knob like they did the Jeep's bigger brother in the Durango
.. it's had zero complaints and everyone who has it loves how much room it opens up and allows easier access to the cupholders. Jeep didn't have to totally redo it to a traditional shifter.
Not sure I like a totally or even partial electronic shifter especially on a Jeep where it has a real good chance of exposure to LOTS of water, etcccccc Some people use a Jeep for its intended purpose not being a mall cruiser
i think they re did the shifter due to recall's
what does the m do on the shifter
very good
Looked like each gear selected were all orange in lamination
How do you switch from manual back into automatic? Somehow I turned it on and not sure how to switch it back.
Lol BMW used this gear shifter 17 years ago
I know other cars with same working shifters. These cars are: Maserati Granturismo S Automatic, Renault Talisman EDC, Renault Koleos, X-Tronic, Dacia Duster EDC, all new Mazda cars with automatics, Porsche 911 PDK and many ones. EDC is dual-clutch transmission, X-Tronic is CVT, but classic hydraulic automatic transmissions, CVT's and dual clutch ones often had same shifters. That revised Jeep shifter could be adapted to all new BMW cars and other with 8HP transmission. It's completely electronic, but make illusion of mechanical feeling. I live in Europe and know many cars, which are unavailable in USA. PS: older Ford cars with PowerShift transmission had mirror version of that shifter, but in new ones is S-mode, and shifting by button on lewer (similar to Ssangyong cars), or rotary dial knob simiar to Jaguar.
The Electronic Shift lever was much more elegant and appropriate for the era we live in… this new lever that mimics a manual Shifter Knob looks Stupid, just like those people that were unable to use the new generation of Shifters and complained about them forcing FCA to make this aweful devolution
Ok so i have a question for you guy's which shifter do you like better? The 2014-2015 style shifter or the 2016-2018 style shifter.
So the Anton Yelchin death… did he not put it fully into park, or was it displaying park but rolled forward anyways? Also side note… people use your fucking parking brakes. People are so fucking lazy nowadays they don't take that one extra movement to engage a parking brake. Those things are designed to be used when parked. The P for parking simply means you put the gear selector there while it's parked, it's not meant to replace your parking brakes. If you park on an incline and rely on that gear to hold your vehicle in place, its actually not good for the transmission.
You can bump the shifter into neutral without pressing the shifter button :/
Never had a problem with my 2015 shifter and I don’t have to look down at it to know what gear I am on. How much pressure I put on the shifter tells me what gear I am on and it is also on your dash!!!
