Seems my other testride video (of the Generic Trigger 50cc) got a surprising amount of views, a lot of positive comments and even a few thumbs up! Wouldn’t have thought that…

So, after exactly one year of owning, (ab)using, having fun and living with my G650GS, I decided to do a review from my very personal perspective.

I will post the actual ride in a separate video later — as soon as I get a bit of quiet time to record comments.
[UPDATE: I finally did it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fIZUEpET9w ]

So, what do you guys think? Should I ever do another review/test of any things related to Motorbikes? If so, about what?

  1. This is the best walk around/review video I've seen for any bike. You covered things no one else does, like the gauge cluster, heated grips, rear suspension adjuster, where the engine vibration is bad in the rev range, and the headlight. Good job on your review.

  2. Deserves way more views and thumbs up, great review mate.

  3. I was actually very happy to hear that this bike handles speed bumps at full speed.  My previous dual sport was a Suzuki DR350 and it was basically a dirt bike with mirrors and turn signals.  It had twice the suspension travel of the G650GS, and I loved hitting big speed bumps at 55 MPH.  Duh-dunt.  I could barely feel it.  It was surprisingly fun.  This time around, I want more of a street bike but still a dual sport or enduro, and I've been looking very seriously at the BMW G650GS.

Great review!  Thanks!  I don't know why it took me so long to find this video on YouTube.

  4. What did you do with your BMW Logo's?

  5. Hi,There!
What type of bulbs did you use? Great bike! Congrats!

  6. Thanks for the review. Someone already asked, but I didn't see an answer: With which bulb did you upgrade your headlight?

    Thank you

  7. Hi mister! We are still waiting for a driving review 😉

  8. Nice review, thanks. Have one in Brazil and agree with the shitty light bulbs that comes original from BMW. Overall quite good 1 cylinder biker and the ABS is definately a plus

  9. Hey Everyone! I am thinking about a "Bike Makeover" for the G650GS. I want to repaint it in a funky color scheme. My current plan is for High-Viz pink 😀 I alreay got pink fork gaiters from a dealer's bargain bin 🙂

  10. I was looking into the nc700x, what made you choose this bmw over honda?

  11. You haven't blown a Valve cover in the cold yet? My Sertao is on #5 valve cover. 2012 Sertao. Love it in the summer, unreliable in the winter. I have used setting 2 on the Grips, good to -10*F.

  12. RELIABILITY UPDATE: after having resolved all the issues the bike had in Summer 2013, it's been a perfectly pleasant year 2014! Not a single issue! Not only have I successfully passed my license test with this bike in Summer 2014, it also now completed 25000 km, of which I did 20k.

A month ago, I put on Metzerler "Tourance NEXT" tires. I can absolutely recommend those to anyone! Well worth the money.

  13. Hi, apologies for disturbing. But it sounds like a great beginners bike. I am 1,70m tall. Can i fit on this bike? And are there crashpads available?
    Thanks!

  14. I'm guessing you have youtube image stabilization on, turn it off, it makes your video look like jelly

  15. MaxM MaxM:

My g650 has full black rims.
How so you feel with the power?
Do you want more after a few thousend kilometers?

  16. "PINK" great ,it will look nice in your local GAY PARADE

  17. Yamaha Super Teneare 1,200cc  Lots of go power. AND TUFF.

  18. iving school is the worst place to shop. Those bikes are used by learners who have no idea how to use a bike.

  19. I ride with two pals on new 800 cc BMW's on well made country roads…My G650GS can easily keep up with the bigger bikes I have road tyres fitted, and all the available extras…we cruise at 110 kph or about 70 miles an hour (the official speed limit) for long distances in the West Australian wheat belt areas…. All the bikes are very economical and comfortable to ride … I have a Buell, and a GSX Suzuki, but the BMW is the best all round bike for every day riding…..

  20. Have the same bike, great review friend.
