If you have an E1 or 955 generation Porsche Cayenne, you’ll probably have a tailgate or boot that won’t hold open very well. That’s due to failing tailgate struts, which in this video I’m going to be replacing on my 2005 Porsche Cayenne. If you’d like to see what I get up to in real time, you can follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/itsjoelw/?hl=en.

That’s a pretty good job done I think! Slightly more difficult than I expected, but worth it in the end! Thanks for watching.
What a long winded job! Much more difficult than the Z4 you had. Good work, glad you got it sorted! Nearly 100k bro!
Excellent job Joel on replacing those struts!
Hope you resealed the gas strut cover or you'll be getting water in there and destroying your headliner
MA WIFEEEE
well done joel , nice job completed there, and satisfying being able to do it yourself, with the wife's help of course.
Nice one Joel. Thanks to your lovely wife too. Volvo estates have a similar set up. If my V70R struts fail, I now have the confidence to tackle the job with my own lovely assistant. Thank you!
rabbits name should be BOB
What a pain in the arse job.
Great video and a great Cayenne!
Excellent job on breaking the headlining jeeze .
Great job mate! Cheers Kirk
Great job! A fun watch! Harder than I expected with so much trim to remove =O everyone needs a wife =)
You did a good job, although I don't know how you managed it without breaking something!
Well done Joel. Excellent job.
Top work Joel.
Good blog but as a suggestion a broom makes a good support for either a bonnet or boot.
when I did the door struts I didn't prop the door and it slammed shut on my right thigh and I thought I had broken it!! Its VERY heavy!
did you not re grease the sockets??
Respect for completing that job. Xx

God there messing with my phone
Looks like a nightmare compared to "ordinary" cars. Thank goodness you knew the new struts just push on with no levering out of the new strut clips like some YouTube videos show!
I seem to recall a parody twitter account that posted something like "Do you feel insecure? Are you worried that people don't know just how much money you really have? Then get yourself a Porsche Cayenne…."
Give it a few weeks and its will get easier to pull down.
What is this shit?
Cool!
Thank you for this video, now my struts are changed to new ones. Just the electric opening left to get to work.
