There is no question that wagons are better than crossovers and suvs even if the market doesn’t agree. Wagons get better fuel economy, have a lower cost to run and are far more space efficient. This time on Rumblestrip.NET and Ten Minute Test Drive we take a look at one of the best wagons on the market today, the Volkswagen Alltrack

Snow. That is why. If they offered 4Motion on anything other than the S trim level in the Golf Sportwagen…..
in your conclusion i literally learned nothing. is it great? yes, is it a gimmick yes, do you love crossovers yes, is it for no reason, probably yes… wtf make up your mind, hard yes or no. I personally think for the money what you get with the AWD and TSI engine nothing comes close.
I'd way rather have the sportwagen vs alltrack.. Problem is you can't get 4motion with anything but the base wagon.. Meaning no sunroof, no keyless, no led lights.. Makes no sense
VW is really dumbing down the GSW by taking away oprions it used to have and making them available on the Alltrack "forcing" ppl to go Alltrack…I am torn…I want one of VW's wagens and I'm leaning towards the GSW Sw/4 motion motion+6spd…I'd get the Alltrack w/a manual too, but I don't really need the extra things VW adds to the Alltrack which also adds to the price…sure the mode dial is nice but i have no real intention to go offroad…plus in OH the salt in winter may not do well w/the Alltrack's plastic cladding…is the Alltrack really worth $2K more than a GSW, the SE even more so…
I wanted the sportwagen 4motion but I wanted the options that come on the Alltrack. Thank you for the video.
It's not just AWD vs FWD for the sportwagen vs the alltrack. The sportwagen is missing the DSG, the paddle shifters, the fender stereo, the drive modes, the lighting packages, and the park assist. Plus the extra clearance is nice in the snow.
Isn't the point of a crossover like the Tiguan over a wagon like the Sportwagen/Alltrack the height of the driving position? What's known as the hip point is higher, meaning we can get in and out easier. I feel like that is why taller vehicles are taking over sedans and wagons.
