Alberta RV EXPO and Sale 2017, Calgary
The Recreational Vehicle Dealers Association of Alberta kicked off 2017 with their annual RV expo and sale in Calgary (weekend of 26 — 29 January, 2017)
We are in the market for a couple of smaller Vans or B-Class units for our team and needed to find out what is new in the land of homes on wheels.
The following stood out for us:
— http://www.leisurevans.com : Dean Corrigal (their YouTube celebrity spokesman) took us through the latest of their Unity Class B+ Unit. This is something to have once you’ve tried all the other ones and know what matters. It is the envy of every Class A owner. We already own a Free Spirit from Leisure Travel and it was just good to affirm that this company keeps innovating and leading in this sector of the market.
— http://www.bucarsrv.com/ : JC Macleod took us through the latest battery technology available from Bucars. As you know, we have a lot of high-end camera and electronics in our productions, and power on the road is always an issue. Seems we may come right with Bucars fitting us out with the latest in Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) Batteries and Solar. It may just last us our next Canadian winter.
— http://www.guaranteerv.com : The modest folks from Guarantee RV was on hand to make sure we stay conservative and make smart decisions with our money. Terry Marin has looked after us for almost 4 of his 18 years in the industry and somehow managed to extract quite an on-the-road investment from the Cowboy over recent years.
— http://www.gohymer.com/ : Hymer is a newcomer to North American market. They have a huge presence in Europe with their compact motorhomes. We were thoroughly impressed with the practicality of their AKTIV Van conversion. We are not a big fan of the FIAT/Dodge base and prefer a Mercedes Sprinter or Ford Transit. However, we are watching this one carefully. Apparently, they are selling more RV Motorhomes in Europe as a single company than the entire industry in North America. If true, then this is impressive. We are just glad they are bringing some of their technology over here like cassette toilets! No more black tank dumping.
