This is the new Lexus LC500 coupe, the company’s first grand tourer. It takes as much inspiration from the brilliant LFA as it does the company’s recent performance models the RC F and GS F.
Powered by a 5-litre V8, the rear-wheel-drive coupe will reach the showrooms in the summer of 2017 with an estimated price tag in the region of £85,000, positioning it in the GT heartland against the 911 Carrera S, BMW’s 6-series and Jaguar’s F-type.
Engine, transmission and performance
The good news is that Lexus has ignored turbocharging for the LC500. The 4969cc naturally aspirated V8 takes the block used in the GS F and RC F models and changes pretty much everything else. Peak power is 470bhp, as in those F models, and arrives here at 7100rpm – identical to the GS F and 700rpm higher than the RC F. Peak torque climbs from 391lb ft to 398lb ft produced at 4800rpm.
