  1. Tony,
This is a great video. It clearly explains what to do. However, I've heard there is a big problem to undoing the main crank bolt. Did you use an air tool or a very long wrench? Your numbers for the repair seem about right. I guess an amateur would take about 40 hours.
Did you find any loose bolts on the oil pump which is another known problem?
    Keep up the good work.

  2. The video is great but it sounded like there was still some noise coming from the timing assembly was the vanos assembly also needing attention? or is this a non- vanos engine it looked like an m62tu to me

  3. 4:16 what is the name of the special tool for the crank shaft?

  4. You rock!  For a professional mechanic to take the time to show everyone how to do this is exceptional.  Even though I live in TN, your number is in my cell phone just in case someone I know is anywhere near Chicago and needs a mechanic I'll have the number available.  The note next to your name is "Honest mechanic", I consider that high praise.

  15. This is a fantastic video!! Only one this thorough that I can find on youtube.
I am in the process of doing this right now. I have a question though. I do not have that special pin, ive heard you can put in a 1/4 ratchet extension to lock it. WHen you remove the crankshaft pulley, do you also have to lock the camshafts with the wood or is this not necessary?

  16. You can purchase the Lock Pin to lock the TDC Flywheel on
Amazon, part no. ZDMAK Lock Pin 115180Zdmak Lock Pin 115180 for Locking Flywheel in TDC BMW

  17. Antonio Milito that's for your video it helped me a lot I did mine but in a range rover same engine .

  18. lol Antonio i enjoyed your wooden tool 🙂 but you cant time a double vanos engine without a special tool can you 🙂 .

  19. Hello, I think the lock pin to lock the flywheel you are using is nr. 112300 thats the straight on. The small part is 8 mm and the bigger part is 12 mm. Just a comment from the Netherlands.

  20. where did you get the pin for the lower lock?
