A 21-year-old man who was arrested yesterday for allegedly taking part in the robbery of Hawthorn player Brendan Whitecross’ Porsche has been granted bail.

Dylan Hubbard appeared at the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court today charged with aggravated burglary, theft and theft of a motor vehicle.
His charges were downgraded solely to theft of a motor vehicle after he proved he was not involved in the invasion at Whitecross’ Croydon home.

His lawyer said he had been on bail at the time of the alleged offence.
His alleged associate, a 20-year-old man, remains under police guard in hospital.

The men were arrested yesterday after thieves broke into the midfielder’s home about 2am while his family slept.

Whitecross and his family were awoken by the family dog.
The Porsche Macan was later found abandoned at The Glenn shopping centre in Glen Waverley.

Yesterday, Whitecross said “the adrenaline took over” when he confronted the men in his house.

“I thought if I could handle Hodgey [captain Luke Hodge] when he’s a bit fired up, I can handle anybody,” he said.

A third person who ran from the Porsche is still on the run.

Another man was arrested yesterday and later released after police confirmed he was not involved.
