The prices for the Jeep Compass start from Rs 14.95 lakh and go up to Rs 20.65 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). However, in the recently held GST Council meeting, an increase in tax rates of SUVs and luxury cars has been suggested and the Compass might be one of the cars that will fall within the new cess slab. Given its aggressive pricing, the Jeep Compass rivals a wide range of cars. It comes across as a premium alternative to 7-seater crossovers/SUVs like the Tata Hexa and Mahindra XUV500, while also coming close to the top-spec Hyundai Creta. Additionally, it undercuts the Hyundai Tucson on the price chart and is considerably cheaper than the VW Tiguan or body-on-frame SUVs like the Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner.
While the petrol Jeep Compass’ mileage numbers have not been revealed, the diesel delivers a claimed mileage of 17.1kmpl and 16.3kmpl for the 4×2 and 4×4 variants respectively.
The Jeep Compass may be Jeep’s most affordable model but it certainly isn’t lacking in equipment. To begin with, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, ESP and ISOFIX child seat mounts are offered right from the base variant. In fact, the top-spec model gets 6 airbags. Move up the variant range and the Jeep Compass gets features like dual-zone climate control, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment display which is mated to a 6-speaker sound system and supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, push button start/stop and reverse parking sensors with a camera.
The Jeep Compass is available in five colour options for the body — Hydro Blue, Exotica Red, Brilliant Black, Vocal White and Minimal Grey.
