damn how often did you change your oil, i know most places say oil every 5k Km's and filter 10k Km's, but myself i say what good is putting clean oil through a dirty filter, oil and filter every 5k K'ms and every 20K Km's i flush the system with some diesel!
Aside from it being dirty was it stuck? How was the car at idle?
Toyota fielded this particular flavor of a VVT system. They're actually very reliable, but just like with the V-TEC system it's very important to keep up on oil changes.
Yes, but the V-TEC/VVT-i/MIVEC systems all require more frequent oil changes than, say, a 3S-FE out of a '91 Camry or a D16 out of whatever year Civic took those. I can go 7,500 miles on an oil change with my Camry but wouldn't try it with something running a BEAMS 3S-GE.
hey dealing with a similar problem im just wondering if you replace the ocv (vvt solenoid). im not into taking this engine apart if that would solve the issue. Its the same exact code and everything.
Another possible Cause DTC P1349 is Contamination of Camshaft Timing Oil Control Valve Filter.

can an engine work without the vvti? meaning if i remove the vvt and add another sprocket with the same size and gears of the vvt?
Any on ever had a vvt solenoid on 02 Toyota Camry break from fussing up from lack of oil change an how did you get steam out of engine with out disassemble the heads to send to mechen shop thanks in advance .
Could this dirty gear also cause P1346? I've experienced P1346 and P1349 together, and have cleaned many parts but not this one yet.
