could you have take a small block of wood, plastic, polymer, or something and cut a v groove in it to fit on top of the brass fitting just to press it in?

nice job on that. Tecumseh small engines use the same style of fitting. They are very hard to change. so I know what you are dealing with

You are a perfectionist. Great repair, but how do you pass the added time in cost onto the customer?
Do you know if this would be the same on a dirtbike carb. I have a 99 yz426f that has a leaky and looseinlet elbow and not to sure on how to tighten it .
