I demonstrate a few methods on how to remove stripped or rounded screws from a carburetor. These methods will work for removing other stripped or broken bolts and screws too.

I have a 1989 honda shadow. And i cannot remove the allen head bolts from the crank. How can i remove thesee bolts without damaging anything
Yep! I hope they're paying Shane well because he's worth every penny! And I hope those young guys are paying close attention! Thanks for the screwdriver info Shane! I'm buying one.
Use ruber tube pice from bike tube under screw driver
What do u do for an Allen screw
That can only be useful if the screw have heads. How about flat head screws?
I should've seen this video earlier… I could get a stripped screw out so I had to drill through it. Pretty good experience though
excellent, best work . Easy ,Simple but most effective
Sure this works but you can buy a whole assortment of brand name "ViseGrips" and do the same thing for anysize machine screw or bolt for 1/3 the price and also if you file or grind down the up fluted pot metal to the original thickness of the head of the screw and then use a near new quality #2 screwdriver they will come out every time. This is elementary mechanics.
fantastic!
Don't know if this has been mentioned before on your channel concerning stripped cam in screws but that's what Engineer brand pliers from japan were invented for, using on stripped screws in tight places just as you showed in this video, Engineer rebrands their pliers under the Vampire Tools Pliers name here in the USA
slot it with a dremel or hacksaw then remove with flathead screw driver. It works.
Hey Shane, is a little anti-seize okay on carb screws?
Mark of a pro, clean as you go.
How do I get out a hex bolt out
Description says “bolt”, removes screw!
Nice.
If you don't want to pay $1000 for the snap on tool you can get some nice pliers from engineer, or knipex 5 inch cobra pliers.
My tech tip: use an angle grinder with a 1mm blade or a dremmel to cut a groove and then use a flat. You will be able to reuse that screw especially if you are a diy guy and you don't have access to all types of screws
you are working on a Japanese carb you should be using a JIS japan -industrial -standardthis is not a #2 Philips check out vessel brand screw driversthere is a huge difference
USING ABIT OF SAVVEY CAN GO ALONG WAY ……..
Yep
Very good teachter!!!! Severe, but very clear!
yes the old rice screwdrivers
This is why the old honda motorcycles have rounded over screws. lol
People who put tump down dont know shit this is the way to do it
Yes
4:49 — than you for this tip. Have stripped torque screw on bike primary cover.
Brilliant video! Thanks Shane! Love how you always ask: "Makes sense?" Possibly the most important think is to really understand (logically) what your doing and why your doing it.
If you actually have to explain all this you probably shouldn’t be a mechanic. I say this as a professional motorcycle and powersports mechanic and auto technician
Impact driver and 3lb hammer
1) Impact screwdriver. 2) cut slot in screw head and use flathead screwdriver 3) pound in torx bit and back out screw. 4) Drill and use Easy Out. Other methods to get stripped screws out.
wow this is an amazinggggg teacher lol what a cool teacher and a great class. i wish i was part of it lol
Every American video cliche is here. A failure to get to the point, use of the not needed phrase 'go ahead and', sizes the wrong way around 4 by 2 not 2 by 4, awful!
Thought this was going to be for difficult screws that just won't come out, AFTER trying these methods. Sometimes nothing works.
Talks too much in the beginning.
If you want to see some stripped fasteners, but a bike off Craigslist. Carb bowl, idle / air adjustment, drain, case covers, you name it, you'll fine some goobered up. Most owners have little to no mechanical knowledge and they just torque the heck out of every fastener. I'm restoring a 2004 PW80 right now and it had it's share of stripped fasteners. I had no choice but to replace with OEM parts. When I sell it, whoever buys will get a short lesson in what a JIS fastener is and what tool they should be using on it. I've done some research lately on the JIS bits. Supposedly, the newer US Imperial screwdrivers and bits are made with similar design to JIS and even the Japanese are no longer marketing screwdrivers as "JIS" standard. Maybe tool manufacturers are moving towards a more global standard on "cross-head" screws and bits, but chances are the old American standard tools in your box are not intended for the Japanese screws. Personally, I'm going with some JIS bits I bought and trying those out.
Dome top Torx head stripped.
Painful to watch, this guy is meant to be a teacher but he is saying it is fine to use a philips screwdriver on a JIS screw.
A good JIS screwdriver would have taken that out. Failing that, Vessel make an impact screwdriver that is JIS.
I suspect there is a Snapon sponsorship or bias.
