Here’s our official timed run for the 2012 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. We had an issue with a couple of Go Pro cameras due to the delays caused by Monster Tajima’s fire, and Dallenbach’s crash, so unfortunately, we don’t have in-car footage. The EV West M3 holds the mountain record with an 11:58.929 for a street converted car. Good enough for 4th in electric, and beating out last year’s world record (later to be beaten by Toyota MG).

Nice. The sound could be better and a view of the driver would have been great!
Very good job on this conversion ! The car is incredibly stable !
It must have been fun to drive it.
A silent car is good but can be deadly . You won't hear her come around the mountain when she comes .
They're required to have sirens on throughout the entire run.
upwards of 30km/h most of the noise a car produces is wind noise, since they are faster than that all the time in this case it wouldn't even be a problem
I have always wonder how loud would a E-car be if it had low drag and racing slicks
Congrats on your excellent performance! I'm so glad to see more electric vehicles in racing.
And not a single CO emission was given that day.
trying to figure out the difference of performance and energy consumption of ac vs dc motors
I'm guessing the motors you run are business. I know they have some crazy performance rc electric motors I wonder if the motors you guys use are as potent given the size.
that has to be the most dull and boring car video ive ever watched…theres just no soul…noise, smell and vibtration are what gives cars a life. If this is the future then im pleased im more than half waay through my natural life
Racing is about winning times… and this thing beat a ton of gassers, including S50/52 powered M3's. And yes, you're right, the video had no smell.
They should have had the microphone in the cockpit area, so we could hear the revs better, just food for thought!
thing is .maybe racing is about winning times…but racing would not exist if it were not for spectators. No sponsor would chip in money to any event if there were no one to watch the event.Events would not exist if they relied entirely on competitors entry fees. So my comment was made as a spectator, all be it an internet one. Maybe i would feel different if i was there in person but i doubt it. Btw i compete in actual motorsport as well as spectating other forms of motorsport.do you? probs not
Hello future.
" LOL Car has no soul WTF" = "I fear change."
*duct tapes down the gas cap door*
wow. may I know what the motor(s) is/are? thanks.
never been a EV fan always been a petrol head, but damn im slowly falling in love with EV!
interesting shows the torque and future as with 24 Hours at LeMans
Your alarm is on mate!
That is impressive.
Engine sound reminded me extreme G
Somewhere near the equator
"Yeah, this car is electric, believe it or not."
"Like, full electric, or hybrid?"
"Full electric, maaan, this thing is so fast…"
"Yo I heard they have a shitload of torque!"
"Lemme show you man!"
Tries to do a burnoutEarth starts spinning fastershit i wouldve left my speakers in fuck it
A question from a complete noob:
Afaik EV WEST uses low RPM(DC) motors for their cars instead of the more commonly used high RPM(AC) used by most EV manufacturers. I wondered how that might affect temperature, do they require less cooling than the high RPM ones? Or is cooling of the motor generally not an issue at all, just the battery?
I know I can read up on it, I just think it's interesting to actually talk(well, write) to people sometimes too:)
No sound, no fun. ICE and petrol is life.
