Here’s a brief 10 minute video that gives a nice overview of the EV West 2 speed Powerglide transmission that runs without a torque converter direct drive to 2 coupled Warp 11 motors. Depending on the voltage and current, these twin motors can put out well over 1000 lb/ft of torque, and 600+ horsepower. We used this motor and transmission combination to power our BMW M3 to the summit of Pikes Peak in 2012 setting an all time record for street legal electric cars. Dumb questions can you run the powerglide trans to a transfer case like an atlas II and get 4×4? And for other applications can you run just the 1 motor for lighter every day cars?

Why do you say this setup is only for racing, does it lack something you need in a street vehicle? I see so many conversions that retain the old transmissions and clutches and I can't figure out why they wouldn't want to replace all that with this tiny 2 speed Powerglide. Even with a single motor on a front engine rear drive conversion it would leave a huge amount of room under the hood with the motor back were the transmission used to be. Anyone know?

you cannot get an emission test on electric cars since they don't have a gas/ petrol engine. turbolq4 . It gets measured differently. Ask your motor vehicle dept.

Why use pressure to keep the clutch pack engaged? Why not just replace the clutch pack piston with a ram or spring?

WHEN YOU TAKE A RC CAR AND PUT BIG MONSTER TRUCK TIRES ON IT WITHOUT RE-GEARINGIT, YOU WILL NOTICE HUGE TOP END SPEED. BUT YOU WILL ALSO HEAT UP THE MOTOR AND FRY IT. I FOUND THIS OUT THE HARD WAY. THE SAME PRINCIPLE APPLIES TO THESE ENGINES, WITHOUT A TRANSMISSION THE MOTORS WILL FRY IF YOU TAKE OFF WITH A 1 TO 1 DIRECT DRIVE AND NO LOW GEARS (SAME PRINCIPLE AS THE RC CAR WITH BIG OR SMALL TIRES).

DO NOT LIFT the Transmission the way this guy does!!! You can really HURT your BACK!!! Always lift with your legs with your torso above your pelvis. Also, angle grinders are not sanding disks. Replace with cut off disk with a sanding disk prior to deburring. Cutoff disk can shatter.
