The Machinengewehr 42 is essential to German tactics, however, if you let the Soviets get a hold of it… you’re screwed. Germans have fewer units and that large arc will cripple them.

If you don’t have Company of Heroes 2 yet, buy it! Western Front costs $19.99, which is all you need for the multiplayer experience (United States and Oberkommando West factions are playable)
If you want the full game, it’s a bit more expensive, however can be as low as $12 on sales.
