Great review. I like the format.
Personally, at 5'6" I spent so much money the make my K100RS even marginally manageable.

I enjoyed very much your analysis of both bikes… you only have made me to hold on to the decision of which of the two bikes I should go for. You did mention your are 6'2", I am 5'6", which of the two should I consider?

Very fair review. I rode a '84 V65 Sabre for almost 30 years. Never had to do anything other change fluids and brakes.
I've owned a '12 1600Gtl for 1 1/2 years. I've spent more on maintenance in that time on the bmw than I paid for the V65. That said, the GTL reminds me of the performance of the V65. But I'd rather pay for the maintenance of a Honda. Also, the sound system of the bmw sucks.
Resale value might be interesting aspect….
Liked the review and think it was fair…ish. Most of the wins for the BMW were minor in comparison to the winds of the Goldwing. Things such as low speed and high speed handling win for the Honda are so much more substantial then a locking center console for your phone. And I can't imagine why I would leave my phone if I left my bike? The BMW win for distance wasn't a big deal in my book. It would've been if the Honda was severely lacking such as a two gallon tank or something silly for a touring bike. Several other wins for the BMW were also less impressive. But as you said, these were just categories and opinions, so everyone will need to decide WHAT wins are really important to them. Great breakdowns in this video for comparisons!
2 points for seats? Also, Honda did some upgrades on other things on the 21 model.
The Gold Wing model has nearly 50 years of inbuilt Honda development reliability. For me, the Wing has much more kerb appeal and kudos that the Beemer. Just my opinion.
Fair but I knew goldwing is going to win
I don’t think you can beat Hondas reliability. Gold wings have been around for a long time Honda motorcycles in general have been around for so long Honda simply knows what they are doing. Yes the bmws are gorgeous bikes but you are paying German prices with the repairs and quite honestly I much prefer to ride as much as possible with no worries than to be worried about something going wrong on a German bike.
Handling in the mountains? The BMW is advertised as a sport tourer. The Goldwing in the mountains? Having owned several BMWs maint is an issue, go to get it repaired, have your empty credit card ready. Over and over.

Good review. I used to own a 2007 Goldwing and my wife and I did many wonderful trips on the bike. In 2012 we rented a K1600GTL in Germany and went touring in Europe. I traded the Wing for a 2013 GTL. Both are excellent bikes, but different. The Goldwing wins on reliability, cost of ownership and comfort. The BMW wins on performance and grins per mile. I also love the BMW’s detachable trunks. Thanks!
I can do a lot of maintenance and repair for a pre-owned bike that costs half a much as the other

Honda reliability beats the BMW …

Man, engines cannot be a draw. The GW is virtually free of Vibrations!!! Can you say this for the BMW at 80mph??? Cost of ownership, reliability and ride comfort go to the GW. Performance is on the BMW site, as always…
No mention of purchase price…for me that's a BIG consideration.
Great video. Very well done. One suggestion, however, is having a checkbox for features that are subjective because in the end I think your conclusion is spot on. It's whether you want to emphasize sport over comfort. As a K1600 owner considering a Goldwing, it's damn near impossible not to drive the K1600 fast. Great video, and thank you.
I feel your review was fair and accurate. As an owner of a BMW 1987 K75s (750) a 2005 R1200 GS and a 2014 K16 GTL I am a bit biased. But, I had spent a number of miles (about 2000) on a 2016 GW, I believe the bike was capable, fast enough and very comfortable. But it had no soul…in my opinion. My '87 has had only routine maintenance (but the front shocks need to be redone now) at 90,000. My GS needed a clutch replaced, and other than gas oil and tires my bikes have needed no dealer work done. I am lucky that I can do the work myself. The GW is a Honda….and they run forever. Thanks for the review.

The problem with these bikes that I drool about is the urban mobility. Cruising between cars with those side bags and having only one bike to do so is a big problem, also as more trail enthusiastic, where many times I need to go up bad roads to shoot photography, these touring bikes will stay stuck along the road. 🙁 it's s pain in S cause I love Goldwing since the first model , when I was just a kid.
I like your test review! I wish I can afford both and yes I agree that parts and maintenance cost would be higher on the BMW! However the brand BMW I like their motorcycles better than their cars!

Any comparison video by this guy and his Goldwing will always win lmao. We get it bud your a Goldwing fanboy you love Honda just like i love my Indian Roadmaster and i will never ride a Jap anything because i am patriotic and consider that something a traitor would do. One thing i would do is if i found another bike better Jap or not i would just admit it like i find the Kawasaki voyager more comfortable than the Goldwing i find my Indian more comfortable looks more like a mans bike and less like a woman's bike like the Goldwing. Roadmasters have way more storage and chrome and less plastic . The infotainment center works better and motor look amazing. I liked the older Wings better more storage the new ones are useless for travelling and the sporty girly look ruins it for me. I live in Canada so i try to buy everything made here or in the USA or Britain and Europe its hard but it can be done i also do not have a smart phone.
Which of.. has their bike come in a lager paint choice.. Honda 2024 Goldwing only has 3 paint choices.
Which of.. will flash on a screen, that tells you to get it serviced by "Authorised Mechanic", to then have to get that serviced to then be able to ride it without flashing screen screaming that message.. to pay the service fee.. than being able to work on it by your own hands.
Late to the party but Goldwings have locking helmet locks under the trunk .
