We test the BMW 4 Series Coupe, the premium brand’s replacement for its 3 Series Coupe.
The 435i that we have here is top of the range, with a 3.0-litre V6 powertain with 307bhp, giving you all the power you’d ever need and more. From low revs to the red line, this car is quick, hitting 62mph in 5.1 seconds with a top speed of 155mph.
The 435i’s interior is little different to a standard 3 series, which means a smart, well-designed and useable cabin including BMW’s iDrive controller for managing infotainment and more.
Our higher end M Sport trim gets some nice M Sport details as well as a reversing camera, satnav and leather seats.
BMW’s 3 series coupe has long been a desirable car for the German brand and the 4-series only improves on this. The diesel 420d is by the far the biggest seller of the line-up thanks to appealing efficiency and economy figures, but there’s no disputing that the 435i is a lot of fun.
Top rival the Audi A5 is still up there, but from where we’re sitting the BMW takes the class lead.
