AUTOZONE Performance Pad FAIL??? I have my doubts… Let’s put them to the test!
Duralast GT brake pads a bunch of marketing BS? Or do they actually work? Putting the AUTOZONE pads to the test, will they stop sooner than «normal» pads?

  1. Hi,

how do the Duralast GT pads compare to the EBC red-stuff and yellow-stuff pads when it comes to initial bite, normal street braking, and high speed stops from like 105-110mph to 40mph?

And how is the fade on them? (I usually don't go over 120mph so I'm not worried about high triple digit speeds as much)

  2. Great video! Just swapped from EBC Yellows that I got 13k miles out of on my 1989 Corvette. I do autox, track days, and daily drive. Very interested to see if I get the same results as you.

  3. Mike Mike:

I'd be interested to see these on a car with tires like MP4S or better and 2 hours total of track time. Also, are these supposed to be bedded?

  4. Thank you for this video. It actually helped me a lot since I need to replace my brakes. Keep the good work.

  5. Mike Mike:

I found someone that had to use these brakes on a vehicle about the size of a Subaru during a track day. The person was an instructor and said his students pads didn’t come in time for the track day. He said that at the end of sessions the pads were smoking and that the student was not dragging or doing anything wrong to make the brakes hotter than necessary. They made it through the day though. The person said they wouldn’t trust them on a fast track. They are still tempting when you’re looking at the price of g-locs

  6. Those pads and rotors are advertised as increased performance at high temperatures.. so "cold" testing of hard braking" is a minimal margin of performance increase depicted.. Heat soaked brakes as in track performance scenarios. You would see major improvements over any O.E. replacement ceramic pad or rotor.

  7. Is this in the outskirts of Ramona?!

  8. How are the Pads now after 8 months?

  9. This is an honest video. Clear and simple !

  10. A good semi-metallic will stop better than a ceramic…better bite into rotor.
Wear a little faster but so what.
Racing pads have a lot of metal in them…they have a higher Coeficient of Friction at higher temps. Than street pads. Made to work at higher sustained temps. of racing.

  11. thanks for this video man. keep it up

  12. Very informative. I've used the different pads over the years and have to say I used Duralast Gold on my Ex's 2012 Kia Forte SX. Not a hot hatch even though it was a five door but that thing came with damn near 12 inch front rotors from the factory. Once they were broken in a little bit, those Duralast Gold really hauled that car down in a hurry.
I had an 86 Jetta Coupe that started life as a 90 horsepower little grocery getter with 9.4in solid rotors on the front. I eventually upgraded the suspension, including the brakes to 11 in Corrado front rotors with EBC Green Stuff. They didn't last very long and needed a little heat in them before inspiring confidence.
I had a 2001 Passat GLX that I had upgraded to Audi A8 front rotors and Porsche Boxster calipers, with stainless steel lines all around and Hawk pads. Not a bad brake pad but very noisy. Of course the Forte was not a track star by any means and it was my ex's, but the way I drive, those Duralast Golds were certainly good. Not to mention a lifetime warranty, even for wear. Wear them out, bring them back to your local store, and get a new set for free.

  13. Not a good comparison……Old rotors with old pads vs New rotors with new pads……..What he should have done is use New generic pads with the new rotors…….Then we would have a better match………

  14. Was the brake in process emplmeted with these tests

  15. Why not GT Rotors too? That would have been a cool test

  16. Was going to buy these but replacing rotors first would have been ideal for the comparison. Im going with EBC blue stuff on both front and rear. I have on EBC reds in the front and yellows on the rear and they have been great for street use for over a year and a half. And they arent even life time warranty autozone give me a break..

  17. should have done it with stock rotors changing the rotors changes the entire test and can not be equally compared since it is not the same rotors

  18. the tires make a huge difference those are not street tires they are off-road less road grip do it with street tires

  19. they are both within the margin of error. that could be considered no difference

  20. I bought these for regular driving 60/40 local/hwy on a 2007 Toyota Avalon. Do you think these would be good for that? Also how many miles should these be good for? I bought them, but haven't put them on yet. Thanks.

  21. what would happen if i put duralast gt on one side and duralast gold on the other side?

  22. Duralast is always pretty good…..I drive daily 50-60 miles and plenty of constant stop and go and whatever else through a city then going 65-85 mph on the highway, I think the last ones I used were Duralast basic, I don't think they were even the Gold or anything special but it's been about two years so i'm going to replace them with the basic ones again…..I don't have the $$$$ for dropping that much on brakes since I just have an Isuzu Trooper with too many problems as it is…..I have never even had A/C in that thing and i've had it for like 5 years lool and I live in Texas……I will definitely think about putting these on my truck since it's a HPO…..I will definitely spend whatever I want on that truck though…..

  23. Has anyone esle had a lot of brake squeal from the GT pads? I put a set on my 08 328xi a month or so ago, at least 2000 miles, and although its decreased, i still have pad squeal on the fronts. I did several 60to10 mph hard brakes to bed them in with new rotors, and have also sprayed the brakes out at the carwash several times. When cold they seem okay but after a few stops, esp in traffic, they sound like a school bus stopping. Figured time would fix but im starting to wonder

  24. Great video just wish you maid one with all the duralast pads like the gt vs gold vs max and what ever else they got but great results one thing I know is rotors do matter so if they are not compatible they might not work as well great video
