The R8 V12 TDI was cancelled, but it used the same engine as the Q7 V12 TDI, which can be purchased in Europe…
500 PS @ 3750 RPM. Not sure where the rev limiter is.
very nice in the end…when you can see how the variabel turbine geometry works…
a common rail… its mean that its not really VW-AUDI technology..
No common rail isn't a VW-Audi technology but TDi is a VW Group tech.
to be true.. non of this aren't VW group technology. A first direct diesel injection was made by magneti marelli and then BOSCH bayed this technology and developed in VW cars and VW named it TDI. Common rail was taken from BIg truck (TDI as too anyway) and put in the PSA cars, mercedes benz and BMW in first.. VW didn't absorb this tech. coz they develeped his own "pumpen duse" till today…
VW has begun to change their diesel machines from "pumpe düse" to common rail. I think in two years or so, there will be just common rail diesels from vw and all their consorts
as inherent to their functional principle, diesel machines as we have them in cars have their redline mostly between 4500 and 5500 rpm
YES, I know that, very well..
a V-12 diesel is Brilliant.
Because of the v-12 configuration, you can not only make components lighter, but smaller. Which means you can have a much higher rev limit.
Combine that with the efficiency of a diesel engine.
Things like this should be thought of sooner.
I want to buy this engine, and make a drag car. I wonder if they sell just them, i wouldn't want to buy a SUV just to scrap it out for the engine.
haha there was a BMW efficiency add on mine
i need that turbocharger to put it in my tdi :)) LOL
i want that in my VW Golf II 1,6 TD..
😀
i want tht in my r32 . . .
@AdrianosFidi 500 hp 1000 NM
@TheNewMrCool 4500 — 5000..but it has 1000 Nm and is keepeng up with the M5 in a drag race
@TheNewMrCool yes it is
@AdrianosFidi np frate:)
@TheNewMrCool yes it does but the video that proved what i`m saying is erased…some british tv show organized a drag between the 2 and the m5 won by half a meter in a 1/4m so it does…
1000 Nm @ 1750 rpm LOL .
Luxusní motůrek!A ty průhledné kryty rozvodů a vačkových hřídelí-KLASA!!!
снимал Дыбил, а мотор супер
jizzed
I drove it in the Q7, its a Rocket!!
@alexmpowere30bmw
This engine is most efficient 500bhp engine ever made it can get 34-35MPG.
@bhtooefr but they still working on an enginge to put it in the r8
there are probably some chinese there taking a lot of pictures! LOL soon we will have that engine for cheap!
@insonita55
great comment!
This is true CO2-terrorist firearm where is nice burnin troposfar damages couples years where developed 4 000 000 000 years.
@Gore1222
In Audi Q7 this engine gets 25mpg average, what is generally fantastic.
I think that G.Clarkson tested that car getting 33mpg in cruse mode at 55-60mph.
In R8 would be even more efficient.
Put one in the A1 🙂
@jjmqwerty i would just hang myself if it did
Quite a waste of such engine for SUV
are you sure it's v12 ? in my oppinion its w12. its fusioned 2 v6 which give us w12 🙂
@HuBiQ95 A W12 has either three or four banks of cylinders — the VAG W12 basically takes two VR6s and joins them side by side at the crank — just like many V12s have taken two inline sixes and done the same thing.
This engine isn't actually two V6s joined together — IIRC the cylinder angle is different from the VAG V6 TDIs — but it's fairly similar to two V6 engines put end-to-end — giving you two banks of six cylinders. It's a V.
to everyone saying "put this in the r8 or the rs4".. even put in the middle of the car, it will just make the car a couple of hundred kilos heavier compared to a petrol engine with similar output. so putting this into a sports car where handling is the top priority makes as much sense as eating icecream to get thinner
and lets not even get started on power delivery and turbo lag, which is very important in sports cars for being able to put down power in a corner, at which TDIs suck badly
Turbo lag yes but the torque from this machine will compensate for that tenfold. The powerband would be huge compared to the petrol. Anywho it's an Audi so regardless I'm a fan 😀
