AUDI A8 2022
Audi may have doubled down on SUVs and crossovers in recent years, but the full-size A8 sedan remains an important flagship model for them. The fourth generation of the Ingolstadt range topper is entering the second phase of its life cycle, with several exterior changes and all the technology that Audi has today. Starting at the front, the Audi singleframe grille is now wider than before, and you’ll also notice the use of more chrome to decorate the fascia. The side air intake on the bumper features a more upright layout, and above them are redesigned headlights. It includes no less than 1.3 million micro-mirrors, for digital matrix functions that make them highly adaptable.
For the first time since the A8 was launched in 1994, Audi will offer this model with the optional S Line exterior package. That option carries some sporty design cues, derived from the performance-oriented S8 model. At the rear, digital OLED lights come standard and feature new graphics that are in line with current Audi models. This touch makes this Mercedes S-Class rival look more modern. Other changes on the outside are four new metallic paint schemes, namely District Green, Firmament Blue, Manhattan Gray, and Ultra Blue. Then there are also five matte themes, Daytona Grey, Floret Silver, District Green, Terra Gray, and Glacier White. The chrome and black exterior package is also retained. The new Audi Virtual Cockpit is equipped with an optional head-up display, while the center console accommodates a pair of 10.1-inch and 8.6-inch touchscreens. While we are talking about the screen, there are still two more on the back for the passenger seat entertainment system which presents a 10.1-inch display.
On the outside, it is visually distinguishable thanks to a unique grille with vertical bars, a two-tone hand-applied color, more chrome, Horch badging, and a larger panoramic roof. Diesel and plug-in hybrid powertrains are also available. The engines are carried over from the pre-facelift model, and all have mild hybrid technology. It is connected to an eight-speed tiptronic gearbox, which sends power to the Quattro AWD system. Unfortunately, there’s no word yet on a bigger W12 engine. Audi will sell the facelifted A8 2022 in Europe from next December, with the base model starting at 99,500 euros for the German market.
