Kia released another teaser for its second-generation luxury sedan, called the K900 here and K9 in its home market of South Korea. The video we saw earlier revealed the upcoming sedan’s April 2018 debut date but really only showed the car in profile. These latest images, however, reveal a lot more of the new K900.
Compared to the first-generation car, the new K900 looks like it has a much more cohesive design. It’s not as original as the Stinger, borrowing heavily from the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and even invoking a little bit of BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe. Still, it’s a handsome car with way more style than before.
Not much else has been released but it’s safe to say that the second-generation Kia K900 will be closely related to the Genesis G90 and come standard with rear-wheel drive. All-wheel drive should be optional this time around. Under the hood, the K900 could receive the same engine choices as the G90, which means a base 3.3-liter twin-turbo V-6 or an optional 5.0-liter V-8 paired exclusively to a second-gen eight-speed automatic transmission.
A full array of driver assistance features should be available on the second-generation K900. The latest version of Kia’s UVO infotainment system should make an appearance but expect the one in the K900 to feature larger screens and displays compared to more mainstream Kia vehicles.
Kia says that the next K900 is a joint effort by its designers in Korea and the U.S., which should be a clue that the K900 will return to this market despite its low sales volume. Production will remain in Korea. Earlier this year, we reported that the new K900 could make its debut at the 2018 New York auto show in late March, but this teaser seems to take that possibility off the table.
