2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA:
Enthuasists may cringe at the term crossover, but the Mercedes-Benz GLA-class is not the bloated people carrier usually associated with that word. Despite being marketed as an SUV, it’s really more of a sport-oriented hatchback with a slightly increased ride height. And although it has been refreshed for the 2018 model year, its core values remain intact—why change what works? Mercedes-Benz found American driveways for more than 24,000 GLAs in 2016. Updates to the 2018 GLA-class amount to little more than a light freshening. Newly optional LED headlamps flank a restyled grille with crossbars that feature rectangular punctures like those on the larger GLS-class SUV. A revised front bumper with more-prominent fog lamps, revised LED taillights, and new wheel designs round out the exterior tweaks. Inside, an 8.0-inch infotainment screen replaces last year’s 7.0-incher; additional chrome brightwork adorns the door panels and the center console; and new, more legible black-faced gauges replace the 2017’s gray-faced units. 2018 BMW 2 SERIES M240i Coupe:
The BMW M240i is powered by a three-litre straight-six engine complete with direct injection, M Performance TwinPower Turbo technology with twin-scroll turbocharging, fully variable valve timing (VALVETRONIC) and Double- VANOS variable camshaft control. This unit generates output of 250 kW/340 hp and maximum torque of 500 Newton metres (369 lb-ft), which can be summoned from as low down as 1,520 rpm and remains on tap up to 4,500 rpm. It all adds up to make the BMW M240i Coupe a thoroughbred athlete with exceptional performance capabilities: with the six-speed manual gearshift, the coupe sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.8 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph). Combined fuel consumption for the manual transmission comes in at 7.8 l/100 km (36.2 mpg imp), equating to CO2 emissions of 179 g/km. The optional eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission further heightens the dynamic driving experience, enabling the BMW M240i Coupe to reach the 100 km/h (62 mph) mark from rest in just 4.6 seconds (fuel consumption combined: 7.1 l/100 km [39.8 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 163 g/km). Performance is even more eye-catching in the BMW M240i xDrive Coupe thanks to its intelligent all-wheel drive. Equipped with the eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission as standard, it surges from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.4 seconds, while returning combined fuel consumption of 7.4 l/100 km (38.2 mpg imp) and CO2 emissions of 169 g/km…
