2018 FORD GT MODEL OVERVIEW:
Vehicle Summary: The mid-engine 2018 Ford GT supercar returns as the automaker’s flagship sports coupe. Other sporty Fords include the Ford Mustang coupe and convertible, Taurus SHO sedan, Fusion Sport sedan, Focus ST and RS hatchbacks, Fiesta ST hatchback, and F-150 Raptor pickup. Overview: First shown at the 2015 Detroit auto show, we don’t expect any major changes to the limited production supercar, but we’ll update this space as soon as we have more info. The automaker has shown some special-edition versions since it first debuted, including the Competition Series. The Ford GT is powered by a mid-mounted twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The domestic mid-engine supercar is rated 647 hp and 550 lb-ft of torque and has a top speed of 216 mph. The Ford GT is EPA-rated 11/18/14 mpg city/highway/combined. The Ford GT is based around a carbon-fiber tub with aluminum front and rear sub-frames covered by carbon fiber body panels. Other performance bits include a inboard-mounted torsion beam and pushrod suspension with adjustable ride height mated to Multimatic’s Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve (DSSV) shock absorbers, active aerodynamics, and carbon-ceramic brakes. Carbon fiber wheels are optional. Inside, the Ford GT features a reconfigurable digital gauge cluster with five driving modes (Normal, Wet, Sport, Race, and V-Max)….
