2018 Audi Q3 Review New Specs
The Audi Q3 is soon to be replaced and the new model has been seen testing under a camouflaged vinyl wrap. It’ll have a much more modern interior than the car it’ll replace with some parts borrowed from the larger Q5 SUV. Our exclusive render, above, shows what the new model could look like.

Styling
Audi’s design team has been slightly braver with the upcoming Q3. While it’ll retain the same basic shape as the current model, the new car will be bigger and look more aggressive thanks to more defined styling lines in its body. The front end will be totally changed with a much larger grille that apes the Q5 and Q7 SUVs, while the headlights are more angled than the old car and feature LED lighting.
The rear lights also have a more intricate shape, with a sharper design than the ones fitted to the current Q3. There’s a more prominent rear spoiler and a slightly changed rear bumper, but the bootlid opening now appears to cuts through the light cluster meaning it might be a little more difficult to load bulky items.
Interior
While the current Q3 shares a lot of interior elements with some newer models, its cabin now feels dated. The upcoming model will borrow parts from the new Q5 including dashboard trim, the central infotainment screen and Audi’s Virtual Cockpit display in place of the traditional dials.
A new, bigger platform will sit underneath the upcoming Q3, so cabin space will be improved and there’ll be more space for rear-seat passengers. The larger body will also accommodate a more useful boot – currently the Q3 has 420 litres of fillable space, which is some way off the BMW X1’s 505 litres.
Engines and driving
If you’re after an SUV with a sporty driving experience, the Q3 probably won’t be the best option. However, it’s likely to be the most comfortable and refined out of the Mercedes GLA and BMW X1.
Engines will be shared with the smaller Q2 so the range will include a tiny 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder model with a handy 188hp. A brace of frugal diesels will be better for motorway drivers or those covering very high annual mileages.
It’s likely that the Q3 will feature an e-tron petrol-hybrid version at some point during its lifespan. The technology will be taken from the hybrid A3 e-tron, featuring a modest petrol engine with electric motors to boost power. At the other end of the spectrum will be a high performance RS Q3 model with around 400hp.
