Knowing the way Audi redesigns its cars, it’s hard to get excited about a new-generation A4. Still, the refreshed sedan is here and, as expected, it carries some of the styling cues Ingolstadt has already showcased on a couple of vehicles since the beginning of 2015.
If you were looking toward a significantly redesigned sedan, you’re better off with the competition, as Audi is not yet ready to ditch the conservative style that made the A4 a «love it or hate it» affair. If making a statement doesn’t matter that much to you, than it’s safe to assume the new A4 is business as usual. It’s elegant and sporty, two attributes that are vital in a segment that also includes nameplates such as the 2016 BMW 3 Series, 2015 Mercedes C-Class, 2015 Cadillac ATS and Jaguar’s all-new 2017 Jaguar XE.
Other facts that are far from shocking is that the 2016 A4 is slightly bigger than its predecessor. The compact sedan has been growing with each generation since its introduction in 1994, and the fifth-gen car is no exception. As with most redesigns, we’re also looking at a revamped interior, a range of updated engines and transmissions, and new technologies. But more info on that in the review below.
